Speed Up Windows Boot Time
Speed Up Boot Time for Windows
Is your Windows taking forever to boot up? Well this can be quickly fixed in Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
The best and easiest way to speed up boot time in Windows is with the MSCONFIG utility. To access this utility just type "msconfig" into the search box. For Windows XP you will need to click on Start -> Run, then type in "msconfig".
The MSCONFIG utility brings up a window with tabs that let you control services and Startup programs. Under the Services tab you can disable any services that you do not need. Be careful and make sure you only disable services that you are sure of. The Startup tab lets you select or de-select which items to run during startup. By altering these, you can save a lot of time during bootup. Many programs that run during startup are probably never even used, so why waste resources and time.
You can also tweak the startup time of your PC with a tool such as Regcure. Regcure provides a full startup manager and if you do not feel comfortable editing MSCONFIG, then that is a much safer option.
